AgeComm Principal Scott L. Parkin has more than 30 years experience in communications with a focus on older Americans, especially those with low income and resources.

He recently retired after serving four years as the National Senior Citizens Law Center’s first communications director. Scott also served as vice president of communications and/or public affairs for two leading national non-profit organizations (National Council on Aging and Leading Age/American Association of Homes for the Aging).

In 2011, he co-produced An Age for Justice, a video about elder abuse that helped to pass the Elder Justice Act. In his career, he also has written and produced dozens of television commercials, public service announcements and several industrial films.

As a consultant to Dr. William Thomas and an advocate of long-term care culture change, he helped launch the Green House Project and boost recognition of the Eden Alternative.

Early in his career, Scott was a reporter for newspapers in Maine (Lewiston Daily Sun & York County Coast Star), an account executive for an advertising agency and managing editor of the Guide to Maine and Coastal Journal.

He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Milton Academy.
